Lab Mission

This facility aims at the development of new mobility and logistics services to increase the autonomy of disabled people thanks to automotive technologies for intelligent transportation vehicles. In particular, the facility includes a Volkswagen Golf 8 car equipped with advanced driver assistance systems, a 5g connection, and a set of visual sensors for perceiving the surrounding environment. The vehicle and its functions will be safely tested in a dedicated open space facility that includes a road track with traffic lights, road signs, and ground signs, along with a control center for data collection and monitoring. This facility is essential for recreating different operating scenarios and testing various operations in a highly controlled environment. Link: https://retis.santannapisa.it/autveh

Devices

Volkswagen Golf8 Hybrid with Leo Drive Argus

he vehicle is a new generation car that has been equipped with cameras, LiDARs, GNSS antennas, inertial sensors, and a 32-core onboard computer to be entirely controlled via software, thanks to artificial intelligence algorithms for the perception of environment and vehicle control. The autonomous driving software is completely open and modifiable to enable the development of frontier research algorithms.

Data sheet: open

Note: The machine can only be booked in conjunction with the road track.

Road Track in Cisanello (Pisa)

The road track will be realized for the development and validation of intelligent self-driving vehicles. The infrastructure will reconstruct a realistic urban environment with intersections, traffic lights, and road signs where it will be possible to safely test autonomous vehicles for supporting the transport of people with disabilities. The area will be monitored by sensors and cameras connected to a high-speed network to evaluate the performance of the algorithms and vehicles. A building will also be available to establish a control station for the infrastructure.

Data sheet: available soon

Note: Booking is still not possible. The infrastructure will require the technical personnel presence.
