The call for access to advanced research infrastructure in biorobotics is now open. Researchers are invited to submit brief research proposals to utilize cutting-edge facilities and collaborate within a leading scientific environment.
1. Objectives
The aim of the “BRIEF” call is to provide access to state-of-the-art research infrastructure in the field of biorobotics. Researchers from academia, and research organizations are invited to submit proposals to carry out experimental activities making use of the facilities, equipment, and expertise available at Scuola Superiore Sant’anna, University of Naples and Politecnico di Bari. This initiative seeks to foster excellence in research, encourage international collaboration, and support the development of innovative solutions in biorobotics.
2. Available Infrastructure and Services
The following resources are available under this call:
- Laboratories and experimental platforms in biorobotics
- Specialized equipment and instruments (e.g., robotic arms, soft robotics platforms, motion capture systems)
- Technical support from in-house experts
A detailed list of available resources can be found in the Infrastructure page description.
3. Access Modalities
Three different visiting durations have been selected:
- SHORT ACCESS – up to 15 days
- MEDIUM ACCESS – from 15 to 30 days
- LONG ACCESS – from 30 days to 90 days
The access duration has to be selected by the Researcher in the application form, based on the requirements of the proposed research activities.
4. Funding and Costs
Access to the infrastructure is provided free of charge. Travel and accommodation costs will be covered for selected applicants by BRIEF project under the PNRR funding program through an analytical or flat-rate (forfeit) reimbursement that will be defined according to the hosting guidelines.
5. Proposal Submission
Proposals must be submitted by May31, 2025, at 17:00 CET via the online platform.
Each proposal must include the Applicant information, Project details, Timeline and expected outcomes, Reference to the infrastructure use in terms of Labs and Instruments.
6. Evaluation Criteria
The evaluation of the access proposal is performed by involving the Expert board of the project. Overall proposal quality (scientific excellence and innovation potential), feasibility and clarity of the work plan will be investigated, together with the proposal relevance and potential impact in the biorobotics community.
